All our work is aimed at reaching out to children and young people. We do this through work in schools, churches, clubs, and many other events and activites.
Here is just a taster of some of the things we get up to:
One of the main ways we build long term relationships with children and young people, is to get them along to our of our fantastic high-energy high-quality youth clubs, running in schools and independent venues around the area. Click the logo opposite to find out more.
Follow the screams of glee at many of the community events, fairs and fundays in the area and you will often find one of our youth ministers there co-ordinating the chaos. We have been involved in Jolly Days, Goodwill evenings, Light Partys, and Harvest Festivals. We work alongside other community initiatives and associations such as StonehouseLIVE and APT Central on the Park Estate, Stonehouse.
From a Sports Coaching Academy and Christians In Sport Night of Champions, to Open Mic Nights and Singing Workshops, we run many sports and arts events around the area.
As well as our regular Pulse Clubs we run a number of more informal "drop in" youth centres where we can begin to get to know local young people simply by giving them time and space to chat and "chill". The Stonehouse Drop In is at APT Central Weds 4-6pm, and the Painwick Drop In is on Thursdays, 5-6.30pm at Painswick Youth Centre.
At the other end of the spectrum, some of our young people who have begun a journey of faith want more indepth dicipleship and bible study. We try to facilitate young Christians to meet up, pray with and encourage each other through various groups and activities.
The VENUE is youth worship event, hosted by different churches around the area on the 2nd Sunday of every month. It is open to all young people area wide. The young people themselves lead the worship in a contemporary style and young christians get to find fellowship with people their own age.
Young people love the opportunity to make a difference and so we love showing them what it means to put faith into action with local community clear up days and the annual "Noise" Project in Stroud.
As well as our "frontline" work, PSALMS also undertakes strategic work to understand how we and the churches of this area might better serve and reach these young people. We have recently undertaken a strategic review of all childrens work going on in the area.
